FENWOOD DISTRICT PRESIDENT'S AUGUST 2020 MESSAGE
FENWOOD DISTRICT AUGUST 2020 UPDATE
After a 2 year long legal permitting process to get our beach in such good shape, I am pleased to say that beach-wise, we had a great summer. With the reconfiguration of the west end, having the picnic tables along the State Sea Wall, we had plenty of space to Socially Distance and still enjoy the beach. Thanks to all residents for keeping each other safe during this crazy summer
Thanks to all of our volunteers for keeping our beach and facilities in such good shape this season. Special thanks go out to Peter Delisa and Bill Gautieri for repainting our Fenwood Beach sign. Thanks to Bob Laundy for repairing our newly donated picnic table and to Rich Ciarcia and his crew, John Galiette, Richard Strauss, for sealing the tables.
GOLF OUTING
We concluded this very unusual summer season with our first Golf Outing at Fenwick Golf Course on September 26. Thanks to our VP, Tom Tokarz, for creating a new event that allowed us to have some social interaction and still stay safely within the Covid-19 safety guidelines. We had 19 participants share a fun day on the links. Greg Hynes, a guest of Bernie Galli, turned in a 37, and Diana DeLisa a 46, as our scoring leaders for the day. Thanks also to Tom and Judy Cicalese who opened their yard to us tired golfers and provided Hot Dogs and Burgers in a socially distanced get together after the event. We are hoping for a bigger event next year followed by a cookout on the beach, if we get lucky.
We are hoping to put our Social Committee back to work next year and to recreate some of the great events that Fenwood has been known for.
DIRECTORY
I am pleased to announce that we now have a “living” Fenwood Directory available on our website.
We are now able to keep the document up to date with new Residents added as house closings happen. We have had an unusually large number of new Residents join us in the past few months. We intend to update on a monthly basis as things change. You will also find updates on our events, beach rules and notices.
The Directory is a password protected document and is only legally available to our Residents and should not be shared. Email fenwoodbeach@gmail.com for password.
Thanks to Richard Strauss and Laura Gregory for their effort in getting this posted and in a format that is protected and accessible. Also, thanks to our clerk, Joanne Galli and our Treasurer, MJ Sullivan for their help in updating and putting all the information together. It took many hours and I couldn’t have done it without them
BEACH
Over the next few weeks, we will be closing down the beach for the winter. Tables have been sealed and will be moved against the seawall. The shower will be taken down and all trash barrels will be removed and the fire pit dismantled.
Please do not build any open fires until next season, when our pit and our permit are in place.
Whenever we have one of those special fall days that brings us to the beach, please remember that this beach is for all of us and to leave it as you would like to find it on your next visit.
Remove all of your trash, fill in the holes and generally leave no evidence of your visit.
GOOD AND WELLFARE
Sadly, we have lost some long-time residents in the past few weeks. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of Pat Cotter and Bill Zabel. And we wish a speedy recovery to Jan Serendi.
We also want to take this opportunity to welcome our new Residents. Hopefully, we will have our Annual Newcomers event in the spring.
We all hope for a more normal Summer Season in 2021. In the meanwhile, stay healthy and socially distanced over the Winter ahead.
We look forward to seeing you all at the next Annual Meeting on May 15, 2021, if not before.
